    Robert was first mentioned in a document that stated he owed Michel Blanot 283 livres for delivery of merchandise.

    Employment:
    In the fall of 1654, Robert and Jean Espaisse were hired by Toussaint Toupin to build a house measuring 26 by 16 feet, which was to be completed in early July 1655. They were to be paid 144 livres, with Toupin providing the necessary materials. Claude Bouchard, surgeon, witnessed and signed the document.

    Employment:
    Squire Rene Robineau hired Robert to build a small building, 18 feet square on his property. Robert was given 405 silver livres for his work.

    Additional information:
    Robert did not know how to write but would make his mark, a carpenter's square shaped like an "L", on documents such as the one drawn up by notary Audouart.

    Land:
    Jean de Lauzon, Governor of New France granted Robert a piece of land. The land consisted of 4 arpents of frontage and was situated between those of Jean Espaisse and Pierre Gibouin, just to west of Sainte-Anne. A copy of this grant is in the archives of the Basilica of Sainte-Anne.

    Legal Matter:
    Before notary Audouart, Robert and Jean Espaisse reached an agreement on salaries due for the construction of a windmill at Argentenay, on the Ile d'Orleans. Eighty two livres were already paid by Monsieur d'Aillebout, Seigneur of the island and he was giving an additional 50 livres.

    Legal Matter:
    Toussaint Toupin requested Robert and Jean Espaisse finish the work on his house in Lower-Town, Quebec. He stated there was an important rod missing under the beam. They must also pay for "two pails of lime".

    Legal Matter:
    Jean Espaisse requested 200 livres from Robert so he may return to France. As a guarantee of reimbursement, Robert accepted a house, on a lot 40 feet by 20 feet, in the Lower-Town of Quebec.

    Robert rented the Jean Espaisse house to Guillaume Lemieux for 45 livres "for each of the said two years".

    Additional information:
    Robert took part in the building of the second church at Sainte-Anne. The account books state "paid robert pare for one day of hauling wood thirty sols".

    Robert and partner Jean Poulin entered into an agreement with the nuns of Quebec. They were to deliver 1000 pine boards to Quebec before the feast of Saint-Jean the following year. They would each receive 250 livres for their work. Notary Rageot drew up the contract.

    Legal Matter:
    Robert sent Etienne Lessard to Quebec as his representative in defending the site deed for the Jean Espaisse house. This house had a foyer, a cellar and an attic and was located between Toussaint Toupin and Noel Pinguet.

    Additional information:
    The account books from Sainte-Anne states "in addition received from robert pare four and one half pounds of butter for the offering".
