Today it is a community in the canton of Lesneven, arrondissement of Brest, department of Finistere, in Brittany. The town of Ploudaniel is located about 20 kilomenters from Landerneau.
First mentioned in Canada 1693 [2] Will 29 Nov 1693 Montreal, Quebec, Canada [3] - Since Francois had inherited 38,000 livres from his father, he had a will drawn up. He wanted to buried in the church of Recollets or "at the nearest place where his death occured". He bequeathed 32,000 livres to the community for helping him build a religious house at Ville-Marie. He promised to the poor hospital of Saint-Joseph 300 livres in annual income, the proceeds from a capitol of 6,000 livres. The executor of his estate would be his uncle, Father Louis Kermeneur, priest and grand-vicar of the diocese of Leon. Francois did not sign.

Land 17 Aug 1703 La Durantaye, Quebec, Canada [3] - At the house of notary Louis Chambalon, Francois obtained an abandoned piece of land 3 arpents in width by 40 deep at La Durantaye, between neighbors Jean Baptiste Leroy and Rene Cauchon. He was given the right to fish, and to hunt, especially for partridge, for the price of 600 livres to be paid to the widow of Nicolas Leroy, Jeanne Lelievre. He gave 100 livres a year beginning on the next All Saint's Day. Special note: Francois would give the seigneur 20 sols, and "a good capon and a partridge as seigneurial rent and a sol for the cens for each arpent of frontage". Also each year he would bring "the first salmon which he caught" and one-fifthteenth of all other salmon and fish.
Land 27 Jul 1707 La Durantaye, Quebec, Canada [3] - An order, issued by the Intendant, nullified the purchase of the land in 1703. The heirs said they were wronged. The widow would remain in possession of the land that was sold.

The Quemeneurs lived on the eastern tim of the island, plot number 1, rear-fief of Argentay, towards the north channel between Louis Allaire and Pierre Lepage.

Inheritance - Francois inherited 38,000 livres after his father's death. Quite a fortune at that time. His father was, at the end of his life, appointed royal notary to the parliament of Brittany.
Name - In Brittany, someone who practicies the trade of tailor is called a "quemener". This name has now become a last name.

They decided to give half of their farm (2 1/4 arpents in frontage) to their son Jean Baptiste, who lived at Saint-Joachim, in the seigneurie of Beaupre. They also promised to grant half of the furniture and "personal effects". Jean Baptiste accepted the offer and promised to feed and support his parents, to help them in illness and "to pray to God for the repose of the soul of the last to die".
