    That Joseph Duquette late of Detroit in said County of Wayne departe this life in said City of Detroit on Saturday the 28th day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty seven leaving a last Will and Testament, as your petitioner is informed and verily believes
    That deceased was, at and immediately previous to his death, an inhabitant of said County of Wayne and the he was possessed of Real & Personal Estate, situate and being in the County of Wayne to be administrated, and that the estimated value thereof is the sum of two thousand dollars or thereabout as your petitioner is informed and verily believes.
    And your petitioner further shews that the names and residence of the heirs at law of said deceased, and other persons interested in his estate, are as follows:

And that I do absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign prince, potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever and I do particularly renounce all allegiance and fidelity its defense to William Fourth King of Great Britain whose subject I have been."

    Peter Leonard's will was made on 23 Feb 1837: Lavinia was given 1/3 of all real estate and personal property and had use of the other 2/3 for the purpose of maintaining his several children: Mary Leonard, Catherin Leonard, Almira Leonard, Betsey Leonard, Adelia Leonard, and one undelivered child (Clarissa).

    Judge Stephen Reeves appointed Isaac I. Voorhies, Alfred Judson and Jacob Carman to a committee to help appraise, inventory and section off the one third part of the Estate of Peter Leonard gave to his widow, Lavina.

    On 28 June 1830, before David Paddock, Justice of the Peace, Jacob Carman, of Pontiac, acknowledges payment in full of $450.00 from Peter Leonard for mortgage executed on 7 March 1929. Peter and Lavina purchased land from Jacob Carmen. It is descibed as "the West half of the South West quarter of section twenty four in Township three North of Range nine East containing 80 acres".
