    "Peter Leonard personally appeared in open court and made application to become a citizen of the United States of America. And upon Solemn Oath declared that it is a bonafide intention to become a citizen of the said United States of America. And to renounce for ever all allegiance and fidelity to any prince, potenate State or Sovereignty whatever. And particularly all allegiance and fidelity to George the fourth the king of the United Kingdoms of Great Britain."

    Jacob Carman sold to Peter Leonard 80 acres of land for the sum of $450.00. Payments are as follows: $115 and interest by 1 January 1831; $115 and interest by 1 January 1832; $120 by 1 January 1833. The land is described as "the West half of the South West quarter of Section twenty four, in Township three North of Range nine East".

    On 25 Sept 1829, Peter purchased 80 acres of land in Waterford Township, Oakland County, Michigan, and gave his residence as Oakland County, Michigan Territory. The cost was $1.25 per acre for a total of $100.00. The description of the lot is W 1/2 of NE 1/4, Sec 23, township 3N, range 9E.

    On 28 June 1830, before David Paddock, Justice of the Peace, Jacob Carman, of Pontiac, acknowledges payment in full of $450.00 from Peter Leonard for mortgage executed on 7 March 1829. Peter and Lavina purchased land from Jacob Carmen. It is descibed as "the West half of the South West quarter of section twenty four in Township three North of Range nine East containing 80 acres".

    Warrantee deed for payment of $80.00 to Joshua Hawks of the State of Maine (via Joseph Hawks of Oakland County, Michigan Territory) by Peter Leonard for land situated in the Township of Pontiac, described as the North half of the West half of the Southeast quarter of Section twenty three in Township three North of Range nine in the District of Detroit and Territory forsaid.

    Naturalization:
    "In the matter of the application of Peter Leonard for naturalization. Appearing to the court that the applicant made his application for naturalization more than three years since in a court of record in the this county and that he has resided in the United States for five years and within the Territory of Michigan for the year last past and that he is of good moral character and well disposed to the good of the peace and happiness of the United States and attached to the Constitution of the same. The said applicant is admitted a citizen of the United States upon his taking the oath required in such cases. Whereupon the said applicant appeared in court and took and subscribed the following oath viz: I Peter Leonard do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States. And that I do absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign prince, potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever and I do particularly renounce all allegiance and fidelity its defense to William Fourth King of Great Britain whose subject I have been."

    Will:
    Peter Leonard's will was made on 23 Feb 1837: Lavinia was given 1/3 of all real estate and personal property and had use of the other 2/3 for the purpose of maintaining his several children: Mary Leonard, Catherin Leonard, Almira Leonard, Betsey Leonard, Adelia Leonard, and one undelivered child (Clarissa).

    Peter Leonard selected Henry Jones and Lavina Leonard as his executor of his estate. Both both refused to act. Court appointed administrators were Elisha Shelden, principal administrator, and Jacob Carman and Hiram Baxter.

    Will was presented to Probate Court on 4 April 1840.

    Judge Stephen Reeves appointed Isaac I. Voorhies, Alfred Judson and Jacob Carman to a committee to help appraise, inventory and section off the one third part of the Estate of Peter Leonard gave to his widow, Lavina.

    Petition by Mary Leonard Skutt, written 25 May 1846, was adjourned on 8 February 1847, pending three weeks of publication.
