    Residence:
    He came from a community in the Department of the Sarthe, Saint-Come-de-Vair, in Perche, now Maine. His parents were from the parish of Champaissant.

    Immigration:
    Claude along with Julien Fortin arrived in Quebec. Claude had an inheritance from his father and along with Julien did not come as an indentured servant but was under the protection of Sir Robert Giffard.

    Land:
    Claude purchased five and a half arpents of river frontage, to a depth of one and a half leagues, from land agent Oliver Letardif. This land wa 30 arpents to the northeast of the Church of Sainte-Anne.

    Land:
    Claude sold his five and a half arpents of land to Louis Guimond for 600 livres. This transaction was not approved by the Company of One Hundred Associates until 1 October 1657. He then collected his payment from Louis Guimond and Jean Crevel.

    Legal Matter:
    Claude signed a 6 year lease on a farm to Saint-Charles, Cap Tourmente.

    Land:
    Claude took a land grant of four arpents of frontage near la Fripone at Cap Tourmente. He paid for three years in advance for which Oliver Letardif gave him receipts.

    Additional information:
    In June of 1661, the Agnier Iroquois started to terrorize the area. After the disappearance of his father-in-law, Claude and his family abandoned their farm and went to Chateau Richer.

    Land:
    Charles Aubert de la Chenaye granted Claude three arpents of frontage on the northeast slope of the present Petit Cap de Saint-Joachim.

    Claude purchased the farm of Nicolas Maniere for the sum of 225 livres.

    Msgr de Laval assigned Claude a farm next to that of Julien Fortin.

    Claude returned the farm that he had received from Msgr de Laval for the sum of 60 livres.

    Legal Matter:
    Bouchard sold his farm he had bought in 1662 to Lord Bishop for the sum of 1500 livres. He was allowed to keep his furniture, livestock, tools, and the impending harvest.

    Land:
    Msgr de Laval granted Claude 12 arpents of frontage at Petit-Riviere-Saint-Francois. The land began at the first stream closed to the Sot river.

    Employment:
    Claude was commissioned by the Bishop to explore an area called Saint-Aubin, which was in the domain of Baie Saint-Paul. "But he did not spend the winter there; he returned with his herd of seven cows and went to live at Petite-Riviere".

    Land:
    Msgr de Laval added 12 more arpents in frontage, near the stream called la Masse to Claude's other land.

    Legal Matter:
    Claude furnished the Seminary at Baie Saint-Paul with 60 minots of corn in exchange for leasing land at Saint-Aubin.
