    Notes:

    Residence:
Pierre was from the parish of Saint-Pierre, in the town of La-Roche-sur-Yon, in the region of Lucon, in Poitou (Vendee), France

    Legal Matter:
Pierre appeared at the home of notary Benigne Basset to rent a mill from the Company of Montreal. It was located on the Saint-Louis hill. The lease was for twelve months. The quarterly rent of 400 livres was due starting 21 March 1659, "payable in silver, beaver or good genuine wheat and marketable at the current price and according to the currency of the town". The contract was signed by Paul de Chomedey de Maisonneuve, Louis d'Ailleboust and Adam Daulac (Dollard des Ormeaux).

    Legal Matter:
He agreed to lease land from Gilles Lauzon for three years. Lauzon promised to build a lodging there for the tenant and his family. If they could not "reside there because of war in the land (the Iroquois), then Lauzon would shelter them him his own home.

    Marriage Annulment:
Mathurine Desbordes appealed to pastor Gabriel Souart to have her marriage annulled. It was found out from new arrivals from France that Pierre already had a wife, Marie Allaire, living in Poire-sur-Vie, in the Vendee, France. Pierre was accused of bigamy. He had confessed to neighbor Lauzon that he already had a wife in France but could not "live" with her because she was a witch. Pierre then disappeared. Lauzon told pastor Souart that Pierre "was met by the boat of the Sieur Le Ber, in which he went to the Ile de Sainte-Therese at Quebec, from where he left by wooden canoe to go join their ship before the fire in the presence of the Sieur Lambert Closse, a major in the area, to whom he admitted that he had left his wife in France because she had the reputation of being a witch". A few days later, Marie was granted the annulment.

    Legal Matter:
The King's prosecutor stated he received information from Montreal, signed by the clerk de Mouchy, that miller Pierre Bissonnet was accused of bigamy. The Council ordered "to take and apprehend the body of the said Bissonnet and to make him a prisoner at the royal prison of this town according to law". De Mouchy drew up a warrant for his arrest.
[It is not known for sure if PIerre was jailed or fined.]

    Land:
Pierre was given a concession from Mathurin Roy. The land was on the boundary of the Saint-Charles River, in the seigneurie of Notre-Dame-des-Anges.

    Legal Matter:
Pierre began working at the windmill that was located on the farm belonging to the Jesuits at Notre-Dame-des-Anges.

    Residence:
Notary Becquet confirmed that Pierre was living at Saint-Jean, a suburb of Quebec, in a document that he drew up.

    Employment:
Pierre was offered the charge of the windmill that the Jesuits worked at Sillery by Brother Joseph Boursier. The terms were for three years, ending 1 Nov 1673. The mill was on a cliff, within a fort, which include a residence and a chapel.

    Legal Matter:
Pierre was offered the lease of the windmill at l'Arbre sec, located at Saint-Laurent by Charles Pouliot. The mill had been built by Pouliot six years earlier for Msgr de Laval. The parties appeared at the home of notary Gilles Rageot to sign the document. The document stated that Pierre lived at the "pointe a Goulet", which means the immediate neighborhood of his place of work. Jean Dudouyt, Grand Vicar and administrator of the Bishop's properties was there to oversee the interests of the Bishop. Witnesses were Jean Mornay and Jean Michel. Pierre was required to pay an annual rent, in two equal payments due Christmas and the day of Saint-Jean-Baptiste, of eight hundred livres "in genuine wheat and marketable at the price it was worth at the time of the delivery".

    Land:
Pierre sold to Louis Goulet land that he had aquired from Francois Dumas. The property had two and a half arpents of frontage. Bissonnet was called "miller of the mills on the coast and seigneurie of Beaupre".

    Legal Matter:
Before notary Becquet, Louis Rouer de Villeray, councillor and agent for Francois Berthelot, Count de Jouy en Josas et de Saint-Laurent, Pierre was granted a lease for the mill at Sainte-Famille. Pierre was "presently living in the seigneurie of Sault a la Puce". The lease was for three years beginning on All Saints Day. The mill that Pierre would operate was a water mill "making wheat flour furnishing all the utensils which belonged to the Seigneur Count located on the said island of Saint-Laurent in the parish of Sainte-Famille with the house and site which he had acquired from the seller Lagrange". The rent for the three year lease was two hundred fifty minots of "French wheat and genuine" per year. The notary, Rouer de Villeray and witnesses Alexandre Petit and Philippe Gillet signed the document.

    Legal Matter:
At the home of notary Rageot, Pierre agreed to lease a windmill from Nicolas Dupont, Squire and Seigneur of Neuville and also the king's councillor at the Sovereign Council. The mill was located at the summit of Mount Carmel towards Cap-aux-Diamants. This was only a few steps from the Rue Saint-Louis and the convent of the Ursulines. The conditions of lease were: Dupont would furnish them with the necessary sails, Pierre would pay half the cost but he would own them at the end of the lease. Pierre would also build a stable within one year, provide eighty-four minots of wheat each year to the landlord and grind one hundred more minot for him "without any milling".

    Legal Matter:
Pierre signed a lease for land with pastry-maker Julien Boissy dit Lagrillade. Julien hired Pierre to grow and harvest grain for five years. Pierre also leased a steer and two "mother" cows.
