Pierre Doucet died aboard ship on the way to France. Pierre and Toussaint Cholet spent their childhood in St. Malo, France before they were pressed into service as ship's boys. Pierre's name was changed to Louis Marin and Toussaint's to Toussaint Marin. At the age of 30, he and his brother Toussaint deserted ship at Labrador. Toussaint died shortly after they deserted. Pierre then began a ten year odyssey to find his parents. He did find them, when he was about 40 years old, in September of 1880, at St. Polycarpe.
