Funeral services, very largely attended, were held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Joseph's church for Henry J. Bodette, popular you Escanaba man, and former star athlete of St. Joseph's high school and St. Norbert's college, DePerre, Rev. Fr. Edward Leary, O.F.M., officiated the requiem high mass.
The music of the requiem was sung by St. Joseph's choir, under the supervision of Miss Eva Cosette, organist-director, with the soloists of the mass, Mrs. Frank Hirn, Mrs, John Cass, Miss Mary Bink and Clayton Todd. As the body was being taken from the church at the close of the services. Mrs. John Bartel, Jr., sang "O Meritam Passions."
Burial was in the family lot in St. Joseph's cemetery. Honnorary pallbearers, members of the Knights of Columbus, were Lionel Beaumier, John Harvery, Robert LeMire, Rene Labre, Jr., John Manley and Nevin Reynolds. Active pallbearers were Robert Blomstrom, Bert Sharkey, Philip Brazeau, Ray LaPorte and Ray and Edward DeGrand.
Out-of-town relatives and friends at the services were: Mr. and Mrs. William Barker and family, Manistique; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bodette, Green Bay; Mrs. C.H. Rutledge and daughter Edna Mae, Elkhart, Ind.; Mrs. Marvin Langdon, Glasgow, Mont.; Telesphore Gauthier, Nadeau; Mr. and Mrs. John Gauthier, Bark River; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Racicot, Schaffer; Mr. and Mrs. Dolph Seymour and son, Iron Mountain; Mrs. Louise Bunker and Mrs. Ralph Parker, Neenah, Wis.; Mrs. Geogiana Racicot, Nadeau; Mrs. John McDonald and Mrs. E. Fay, Green Bay; and Mrs. Jack Dee and Mrs. Multhaupt, Manistique.
