    • SGT. BUNKER DIES FIGHTING NAZIS IN ITALY

      Staff Sergeant Allan Bunker, 29, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bunker, 109 Third street, was killed in action Aug. 15, the war department today notified his wife, 109 Third street.
      The telegram did not state where Staff Sergeant Bunker had made the supreme sacrifice, but he was in Italy when last heard from.
      Staff Sergeant Bunker entered the service in December, 1942, and went overseas las April. He was stationed in North Africa before going to the battlefront in Italy.
      Born in Nadeau, Mich., Staff Sergeant Bunker lived here since he was two years of age. He attended the public schools and graduated from Neenah high school. He was employed in the Badge-Globe mill of the Kimberly-Clark corporation before entering the army.
      Surviving, in addition to the wife, the former Kathleen Mulhern of Portage and the parents, are a daughter, Virginia; seven sisters, Mrs. Alfred Olsen, Detroit, Mich.; Miss Grace Bunker, Lynhurst, N.J.; Miss Ruby Bunker, New York City; Miss Dorothy Bunker, at home; Miss Cecille Bunker, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Paul Butterfield, Neenah, and Miss Muriel Bunker, Washington, D.C. and five brothers, Dewey and Clyde Bunker, both of Neenah; Clarence, Detroit, Mich.; Harold, serving with the coast guard at Chicago, and Private First Class Clifford Bunker, Camp Crowder,Mo.

    • Neenah Sergeant is Killed in Italy

      Staff Sergeant Allan Bunker, 28, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bunker, 109 Third street, Neenah, was killed in action Aug. 15 in Italy, according to a war department telegram received by his parents this morning.
      Sergeant Bunker, gunner on a Liberator bomber, left the United States last April. In a letter received by his parents last week he stated he had completed his forty-eighth mission and expected to be home in September.
      The airman enlisted in January, 1942, and received his early training at Santa Ana, Calif. He was stationed at Tucson, Ariz., shortly before going overseas. His last furlough at home was in February.
      Born in Nadeau, Mich., he came to Neenah with his parents when he was about one year old. He studied at St. Patrick school, Menasha, and Neenah High school and was a graduate of the latter. Before entering the service he was employed by the Kimberly-Clark corporation.
      Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife and one daughter, Virginia Louise, Portage; five brothers, Dewey and Clyde, Neenah; Clare, Detroit, Mich.; Harold, with the coast guard at Chicago; and Clifford, in the army, Camp Crowder, Mo; and seven sisters, Mrs. A. M. Olsen, Detroit, Mich.; Grace, a nurse in New Jersey; Ruby, a nurse in New York; Dorothy, Neenah; Cecile, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Paul Butterfield, Neenah; and Muriel, Washington.
