The Nadeaus have two daughers, both wed, and a son, Charles, who is an attorney for the Shell Oil company in Houston, Texas. It is the popular belief that such appointments go to the relatives of congressmen and government officials, but Marcel Nadeau wrote a letter of application for the Paris Exposition in 1901 and got the appointment. He brushed up on his French and took off for Paris, stopping enroute in London to see the funeral services for Queen Victoria.
