20226 | PASSING OF A PIONEER Founder of Nadeau Town Dead Overcoming innumerable obstacles and making the wilderness bloom can be said to have been the lifework of Barney Nadeau, Sr., who died at Nadeau last Tuesday at the ripe old age of 79 years, surrounded by a large family of children and grandchildren. Mr. Nadeau was born in Fort Kent, Maine, in 1825, and was one of the sturdy men who went west to hew out a living and a home in the west. Having spent several years in his home state he first moved to Kankakee, Ill., thence to Chippewa Falls, Wis., and finally locating at Kewaunee, Wis., where he did contracting. When the Chicago & Northwestern railway began the extension of its line from Green Bay into the upper peninsula, Mr. Nadeau was a railroad contractor, and when the line had reached what is now call Nadeau, he saw that this was the place for an active man like himself to locate. In 1873 he purchased a tract of land, on which is now the present town site of Nadeau, and in a very few years succeeded in laying the foundation for a business enterprise that now has assumed large proportions under the able management of his sons. During his residence at Nadeau he ahs held numerous township and county offices, and was at the time of his death postmaster. During the past few years he has been gradually failing in health, and when he lost his eyesight in 1901 he became partly helpless, still with a loving wife and attentive children and grandchildren his last years were made pleasant in enjoying the fruits of the hard work of bygone days. He has been a sufferer from chronic bronchitis for some time, his final illness dating back only two weeks. Mr. Nadeau was married at Green Bay in 1856 to Miss Mary Frances Jonet, who survives him and their union has been blessed with nine children, five boy, David, Louis, Barney, Joseph and Marcell, and four daughters, Julia, Louise, Lucy and Laura. Besides these he is survived by 29 grandchildren. He was a member of the Lyon Post, G.A.R. of Menominee, and the funeral which took place from the R. C. church at Nadeau on Thurseay (sic), was held under the auspices of that body, a large delegation of the G.A.R. of Menominee, Ingalls and Stephenson attending. The bereaved family has the sympathy of a large circle of firends throughout the county in their affliction. | Nadeau, Barney (I51)

20227 | Patricia d. Dooley December 6, 1928 - October 17, 2014 Patricia D. Dooley of Plymouth, Michigan, age 85, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 17, 2014. She was born on December 6, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Robert Emmett and Viola McCoy. She met the love of her life and best friend forever, Tom Dooley, while still in High School at St. Anthonys in Detroit. They were married in 1952 after she graduated from Nazareth College with a teaching degree in early education. She was proud to say, as an elementary teacher, she supported Tom as he finished his final year for an MBA at the University of Michigan. Their loving marriage of 62 years was the kind most people just dream of and it continues to inspire their 6 children and spouses and their 14 grandchildren. She was a homemaker, devoted to her family and later greatly enjoyed her role as Grandma. Pats Catholic faith served as the foundation for the way she lived her life. She worshipped God and prayed for His assistance and guidance daily. She looked at each day as a gift and filled it with love and laughter. She had the ability to make even the simplest activities some of the greatest pleasures for her family such as singing around a campfire, enjoying a picnic at a park, or spending a day at the beach. Her faith in God and the future brought a sense of peace to others. Her love will continue to live on in those she leaves behind while they look forward to the day when they will be reunited. Pat is survived by her loving husband Tom Dooley; six children Roger (Kathy) Dooley, Dennis (Carol) Dooley, Alyce (Bruce) Cummings, Kathleen Hadley, Jennifer (Joe) Cruitt and Tom (Chu Yun) Dooley; fourteen grandchildren: Brittany, John and Eric Dooley, Ryan and Chris Dooley, Chelsea and Kyle Cummings, Sean , Beth, Christina and Colleen Hadley and Patrick, William and Timmy Cruitt. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Emmett and Viola McCoy and two sisters, Violet (Daryl) Lantzy and Alyce (Larry) Gauthier. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2014, 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St., Plymouth, Michigan with a Rosary at 7:00pm. The Funeral Mass will be on Monday, October 20, 10:30 am at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 North Haggerty Rd., Plymouth. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorials contributions can be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association. | McCoy, Patricia Delores (I43)
