Gauthier, 38, a Department Manager at this location since October 1953, died on February 1. He had been hospitalized for most of the period since last August with a malignant condition. A Metallurgical engineering graduate from Michigan College of Mining and Technology, Mr. Gauthier joined Ford in March, 1950, after 10 years in the metallurgical engineering with the Packard Motor Car Co. Starting as a Chemical Engineer at our Division's Fairfax Plant, he moved to the position of Department Manager in three and a half years. He was promoted to Section Supervisor's status in the Fairfax Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering Department in April, 1953, and came to our Plant as Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering Manager in October of that year. He became Manager of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering with Division in September, 1955, but reverted back to the Plant level with the realignment of Division Staff activities last June.
