Marinette Sending Flame Fighter to Scene on Special Train

Through a fire that started from a small shack late last night the town of Nadeau in Menominee county is being destroyed by flames and with the already strong hold that the flames have on the village it is thought that it will be impossible to save the town.
At 4 o'clock this morning the loss is: Exchange hotel, two saloons belonging to the Menominee River Brewing company, the station agents house, two store buildings and three vacant houses.
Yesterday afternoon a fire was thought to be extinguished in a shack after the roof had burned off. Late last night while the village slept the fire broke anew and had gained such headway before discovered that it was impossible to check the progress of the flames.
At 3 o'clock the Marinette Fire department volunteered to send a fire engine to the scene and 25 minutes later it had it aboard a special train carrying a big crew of fire fighters.
Nadeau Brothers big store was still standing at 3:30 o'clock this morning, but hopes of saving the building and in fact any portion of the town had been given up. The entire population of the town is fighting the flames.
The loss at this time is unestimable.

11841 Father Gabriel de Queylus contracted Jacques to dig a well "in the garden of the hospital of the said place". Jacques guaranteed "two feet of stable water at least...in the presence of a current of water". The clerc provided 8 feet of wood, twenty planks, the stone, the lime, the sand, etc. But Jacques took care of the ropes and received 300 livres and 10 pots of eau-de-vie in exchange for spring water. Jean Aubuchon and Jacques Millot signed as witnesses. Archambault, Jacques (I10531)

11842 Father Gilles Perot (Sulpicien Fathers) gave Jacques 100 livres for a portion of his land. This piece was 5 perches and 3 feet in length by 12 feet in width, all abutting Rue Saint-Jacques, near Urbain Tessier. Archambault, Jacques (I10531)

11843 Father Jacques was absent at the time of the baptism. Lepage, Michel (I1961)

11844 Father Jean Robinson was absent from the baptism. Robinson, Marie Claire (I8968)

11845 Father Jerome Lalemant wrote in the book of chronicles of his community:
"On 28 (August 1646) I left alone in a canoe to go to T.-R. I brought with me two men and a child in a small boat. One of the men was the son of Globoteur, named Guillaume Pelletier, pioneer, longsawyer, carpenter, and coal merchant. Suddenly he became a donne; however we promised his parents one hundred francs for this first year, and we did not leave out the new clothes".

This tells us that Guillaume had three trades. The nickname of "globoteur", friend of the goblet, makes it understood that he was jolly and did not refuse a glass of wine.
Pelletier dit Gobloteur, Guillaume (I1937)
