    Noel was able to sign his name, count and make wheels and carriages. It is not known how he learned his trade.

    Residence:
    Noel was from the town of Brie-Comte-Robert, arrondissement of Melum, department of Seine-et-Marne, France.

    Residence:
    Noel and Helene resided in the house that Helene owned at the time of their marriage. The house measured 24 by 18 feet and was located near the church of Notre-Dame.

    Land:
    Noel and Helene were offically ceded the garden area of 40 perches near the house, which were north of the storehouse of the One-Hundred-Associates, in the Upper Town of Quebec.

    Land:
    Noel purchased 50 arpents of land on the Sainte-Genevieve coast from Governor Montmagny for price of 90 livres.
    Noel hired Antoine Rouillard and Thomas Touchet on 6 February 1650 to build the framework of a house on this property "which will be thirty feet long and twenty feet wide...six feet under beams". The cost was 250 livres and 20 minots of peas.
    Over a twenty year period, Noel built "three frame dwellings, two of which had a heated room each, cellar and attic, the third serving as a shop and attic above, with a barn and two and a half arpents enclosed with stakes and serving as yard".

    Land:
    Governor Jean de Lauzon ceded a quarter-league of frontal land by a league deep to Noel. The property began an arpent below the La Caille River and went up to the Saint-Lawrence towards the south side. Included in this concession was the Ile-aux-Oies. Noel became a partial owner of the seigneury of la Riviere-du-Sud.
    Noel named this fief Saint-Luc and he bore the title of Sieur de Saint-Luc.

    Additional information:
    Noel and Helene were granted a pew, located by the north side of the nave, by the Fabrique of Quebec. The Morins gave two arpents of land, appraised at 180 livres, to the Fabrique. This included the tuition of 100 livres for their son Germain at the Seminary.

    Noel named his son, Jean Baptiste, his administrator.

    Noel and Helene formalized their intentions for after their deaths. All their furniture and real estate would be divided between their sons Charles and Alphonse. The condition was that these two sons would support their parents until their deaths. They were also to give their younger sister, Marie-Madeleine, 300 livres when she married.

    Noel's son, Jean-Baptiste, agreed to support his father until his death. Noel was to pay Jean-Baptiste 1,500 livres and half the income from the fief of Saint-Luc. On 31 October 1675, all members of the Noel's family agreed to sell all the property at Saint-Genevieve to Charles Bazire for 3,000 livres.

    Marriage Contract:
    Notary Martial Piraube drew up the contract. Noel gave Helene a dowry of 200 livres guaranteed by "a house located at Brie-Comte-Robert where hangs a sign with the blue horse in the parish of St-Etienne on rue des fontaines near the gate of the town which the said groom received from the succession of his mother". Helene, widowed, brought the this union a house located near the church of Notre-Dame, with 2 arpents of land near Mont-Carmel and a garden measuring 40 perches belonging the the said house.
