1653. Rene mezeray, abandonmant sa terre du Cap-Rouge, se fixa a la Sainte-Famille, ainsi qu'un autre francais du nom de Jacques Leurier, et Pierre LePetit avec sa femme, Catherine Desnoyers. Il faut mentionner aussi Claude Charon, sieur de La barre, marchand, et sa femme, Claudine Camus; le 29 Avril (1653), sur sa terre de la paroisse Sainte-Jean, deux de ses serviteurs tenterent de l'assassiner; en 1660, il fit un voyage en france; au recensement de 1666, il habitant Quebec.

Au mois d'October 1645, il etait veuf en demeurait chex M. de Chavigny (fief Chavigny ci-dessus), l'orsque le pere le Jeune le marie ave Nicole, fille de Pierre Garemand dit le Picard. Mezeray all ensuite resider sur le fief de M. Leneuf de la Poterie, a Portneuf. Vers 1650, il alla s'etalier au Cap-Rouge, ou il etait encore en 1658.

Pierre Garemand dit le Picard, natif de Picardie, et sa femme, Madeleine Charlot, firent baptiser leur fille Marguerite, a Quebec, le 10 Decembre 1639. Ils etaient maries depuis une dizaine d'annees, puisque leur fille ainee, Nicole-Madeleine, etait nee en 1631. En 1642-43, cette famille vecut aux Trois-Rivieres, mais elle alla bientot s'etablier au Cap-Rouge, pres Quebec, ou les Iroquois enleverent le pere le 10 Juin 1653, avec son fils Charles age de huit ans. L'automne de 1655, les jesuites racheterent ce jeune garcon captif chez les onneyouths; nous voyons que plus tard, en 1676, Charles epousa Marie Gonnentenne et vecut a Quebec.

They etaient marry since a dozen of years, since their elder daughter, Nicole-Madeleine, etait born in 1631.
